Rambling

The Rambling activities are organised by the Rambling Group secretary who is a member of the UPAC committee. He co-ordinates a series of walks and events run by rambling group members who act as walk/event leaders.

To get on to the Rambling Group email list, the Rambling Group secretary should be contacted at rambling@colworthupac.co.uk or by phone - see the Contact Us page for the number.

Walk/event details are emailed to rambling group members and posted on the website.  It is necessary that you let the walk/event leader know that you plan to join his or her walk.

Walks
The aim is to run two walks or events a month for around 10 months of the year. There are several types of walks labelled according to their distance:
“Crawlers” walks are usually 5 to 6 miles long.
“Boots and Socks” walks are longer, typically 8 to 10 miles.
Themed or Celebration walks of varying distances are sometimes held.
The location and distance of walks are chosen by the walk leaders and may include a place for lunch, often but not always a good pub.

Generally the walks start at a location in North Bedfordshire or Northamptonshire but sometimes they may be farther afield.

Birdwatching & Nature Walks
We have some enthusiastic “birder” members.  At certain times in the year walks may be arranged to spot birds and other wildlife.
These are shorter easier walks with plenty of stops to view the flora and fauna.

Cycling
Cycle rides are held once or twice a year on cycle routes or quiet roads.
These are around 15 miles long with stops and the option for lunch.

Walking Partnership supported by Ramble Worldwide Holidays
The walking group is a member of the Walking Partnership. If members book holidays with Ramble Worldwide Holidays (Formerly Ramblers or Adagio Holidays), they should mention that thay are a member of "UPAC RAMBLING GROUP" as a result of which our walking group will receive a small payment. The monies received are used to subsidise Rambling Group events.
